Historically, business relationships have begun organically- a chance meeting or an introduction/referral. And while these opportunities still exist, the digital age has opened up a whole new world of connection. It is in this space that an opportunity exists that is easier and more significant, business-wise, than relying on a chance meeting or the grace of a referral.
In this marvelous digital age, it has never been easier to connect with people. This is the upside. The downside is that much of the content shared does little to move the needle. They are empty calories. I (and science!) believe that people are more apt to “act” when we connect with them emotionally.
As a “story-teller”, this is my strength. I love human stories and I understand that sharing them can help your business. Service businesses (realtors, mortgage folks, contractors, small biz owners, etc.) face the challenge of differentiating themselves from their competition. But, they are different. YOU are different. The value of this connection cannot be overstated. It is the most powerful and potent sales tool you possess. I can help you tell a good, authentic, inspiring story. The story of you. Drift Prevention:
Another element in developing a strong business, combined with sharing your unique human story, is consistent contact with your clients or potential clients. In a world with so many distractions tugging your clients’ attention away from you, having a system for regular contact to remain front of mind is critical in retaining them as clients or referral sources.
While many customer relationship management systems exist, I have developed what I believe is a more creative and potentially impactful program. It is simple, actionable and human. I craft email notes that you can send to your clients each week. These little notes are thoughtful, sometimes funny, insightful, interesting, and again, human. They contain good vibes and best wishes for a good day and a happy life. They are platonic love letters. They are not data pieces. There’s plenty of that stuff already. I write words that people can feel, and the fact that you’re sending these words connects you to these feelings. And this is good…
Another benefit of sending these notes is that you’re ACTING CONSISTENTLY in support of your business and dream! This changes you. It inspires more action. The simple act of pushing the “send” button is powerful. It is aspirational and hopeful and inspiring. You’re doing it. You’re moving and creating. Adding shape to your dream is energizing and inspires more ideas and actions. The world moves on this energy and creating inertia in the direction you wish to travel is self-fulfilling.
